What are the different types of pitbulls?

Internationally, there are around 6 to 8 most widely known breeds of Pitbull, among which are Johnson, Cobra, Blue Nose, Red Nose, Monster, and Mexican Chamorro—pretty much common varieties. Not only are their physical features quite different, but size-wise, the Monster is actually the biggest of these breeds while the Mexican Chamorro is the shortest. The rest of the breeds do not have any significant size differences when compared to regular Pitbulls.

1. Blue Nose

This breed is one of the variants of the American Pitbull Terrier. The name says it all: this breed has a blue nose and a bluish-gray coat. Structurally, it is almost the same as the standard American Pitbull Terrier, the only difference being the color of the coat.

2. Red Nose

Its body is mostly the same as that of a traditional American Pitbull Terrier, the major difference; once again, being the color of the coat. As the name implies, the coat is a reddish-brown one and to give it more contrast and uniqueness, the eyes are honey-colored and very bright.

3. Johnson

The coat of this dog is mainly white, but there are some patches. In terms of appearance, it is more like the American Bulldog. After it grows up, its weight is usually around 40 kgs, thus, it is a dog of medium size, i.e. neither too big nor too small.

4. Cobra

This dog has been the subject of disagreement over a long period of time as to whether it should be officially recognized as a separate breed or not. Some people maintain that it is not a new breed but the result of a mix of other breeds and Pitbulls. It is similar to the Red Nose Pitbull in that way that its fur is totally white without any other colors or spots. The color of the eyes may be blue or black, which is quite unique.

5. Monster

It is a mix of the American Pitbull Terrier and the Neapolitan Mastiff (or simply Neapolitan) that gives rise to this breed. As a result of the Neapolitan Mastiff being a large breed, the Monster Pitbull is bigger than the normal Pitbulls by a large margin, has an impressive muscular build, and very noticeable muscle separation. Nevertheless, it would be wise to point out that both the parent breeds are pretty aggressive. Without professional training, this particular variation of a Pitbull will most likely express its aggression in a very obvious way and thus a person should be really careful if they want to own this kind of a dog.

6. Mexican Chamorro

This breed is a combination of different breeds. It has a fairly flat torso, is not very tall, has short legs, and looks quite thick overall. It was the illegal dog breeding community that used it in dogfighting a lot in the past. Though smuggling and fighting are forbidden, it was quite popular in the underground dogfighting world because of its rounded muzzle and extremely powerful lower jaw bite.
